Goa with an area of 3702 square kilometers is the smallest State in the Indian union. However, in recent years, it has stayed within the top three positions with respect to key indicators of economic growth and quality of life such as education, health, infrastructure, literacy and connectivity by road, rail, air and sea.
The State has a well developed industrial infrastructure. The banking industry also is quite active in the State. The major sectors of economic activity in the State, namely agriculture, forestry, fisheries, food processing and drugs and pharmaceuticals offer immense scope for expansion and growth through more biotechnology interventions, both by enhancing production and value addition. Biotechnology can also ensure sustainable utilization of the vast and varied biodiversity in the State. The State has education
